For families with children 2-10 years of age
Enjoy an afternoon of fun in the sun, celebrating the joys of reading. This event introduces Reach Out and Read (an early childhood literacy program) to Lewis County. Young children and their families will visit fun activity stations themed after favorite children's books. Kids visit each station, participate in the hands-on activity, listen to or read the book, get their passport stamped, and win a prize at the end of the day. The Lewis County Animal Shelter is bringing adoptable cats and dogs; Timberland Regional Library will have their Who Sank the Boat? interactive sink or float discovery tank; PAWS to READ will have dogs for kids to read to; Blue Earth Farms will teach picky eaters how to have fun with food; child portraits will be drawn by an artist with Harold's purple crayon; Clifford the Big Red Dog will lead the hula hoop and dance; live music; plus the kids' imaginations will go wild in the Little Tikes Village.
Sponsored by Reach Out and Read at Northwest Pediatric Center, Timberland Regional Library, and Centralia College Child and Family Studies Department.
