A flood watch for minor flooding is in effect for the Chehalis River through late Friday night, according to the National Weather Service/Seattle. Statement said:

.HEAVY RAIN OVERNIGHT WITH CONTINUED SHOWERS TODAY HAVE SOUTH
SOUND RIVERS RUNNING HIGH AND COULD DRIVE SOME RIVERS IN THE CHEHALIS
BASIN ABOVE FLOOD STAGE.

...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM PST THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH
LATE FRIDAY NIGHT...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SEATTLE HAS ISSUED A

* FLOOD WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF WESTERN WASHINGTON...INCLUDING THE
FOLLOWING COUNTIES... GRAYS HARBOR...LEWIS...THURSTON.

* FROM 4 PM PST THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH LATE FRIDAY NIGHT.

* RAINFALL OF ONE AND A HALF TO THREE AND ONE HALF INCHES OF RAIN
FELL OVERNIGHT WITH MUCH OF THAT FALLING IN A HEAVY BURST LAST
EVENING. ONE HALF TO ONE AND ONE HALF INCHES OF RAIN ARE
EXPECTED OVER THE NEXT 24 HOURS. THIS AMOUNT OF RAIN AND THE
INTENSITY WITH WHICH THE EARLIER RAIN FELL WILL BRING THE CHEHALIS
AND SKOOKUMCHUCK RIVERS TO NEAR FLOOD STAGE.

* THE RIVER LOCATIONS MOST AT RISK OF EXCEEDING FLOOD STAGE ARE
  THE CHEHALIS AT CENTRALIA...GROUND MOUND...AND PORTER...AND THE
SKOOKUMCHUCK NEAR BUCODA. ANY FLOODING THAT DOES OCCUR IS
EXPECTED TO BE MINOR. THE NEWAUKUM RIVER IS EXPECTED TO CREST
JUST UNDER FLOOD STAGE TODAY. THE INTENSITY OF THE RAIN PRODUCED
SOME URBAN AND SMALL STREAM FLOODING OVERNIGHT AND RESULTED IN A
  FEW LANDSLIDES ELSEWHERE.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A FLOOD WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR FLOODING BUT
FLOODING IS NOT IMMINENT OR OCCURRING. MONITOR THE LATEST
FORECASTS FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE AND BE READY TO ACT
QUICKLY IF FLOODING IS OBSERVED OR A WARNING IS ISSUED.
