A flood watch remains in effect through Friday morning for Randle in Lewis County. The Cowlitz River is still rising and could reach or rise above flood stage in the area. The flood watch statement was updated at 4:40 p.m. March 31. The actual statement said:

.HEAVY RAIN WILL CONTINUE THIS MORNING IN THE OLYMPICS AND CASCADES. FLOODING IS POSSIBLE ON MANY RIVERS IN WESTERN WASHINGTON. FLOOD WARNINGS ARE ALREADY UP FOR SEVERAL RIVERS...BUT MORE WARNINGS COULD BE ISSUED TODAY.

...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING...

THE FLOOD WATCH CONTINUES FOR A PORTION OF WESTERN WASHINGTON...INCLUDING  LEWIS COUNTY.

* HEAVY RAIN FROM THIS LATEST STORM IS NOW MAKING ITS WAY DOWN MAIN STEM RIVERS AND THE COWLITZ RIVER IS STILL RISING. THE LATEST FORECAST IS HIGHER THAN PREVIOUS AND AT RANDLE...IS EXPECTED TO CREST NEAR BUT JUST UNDER FLOOD STAGE. THERE IS STILL A CHANCE THAT IT COULD EXCEED FLOOD STAGE SO THE FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS:

A FLOOD WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR FLOODING BUT FLOODING IS NOT IMMINENT OR OCCURRING. MONITOR THE LATEST FORECASTS FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE AND BE READY TO ACT QUICKLY IF FLOODING IS OBSERVED OR A WARNING IS ISSUED.
