  Cooks Hill District Feeders Rebuild

The City of Centralia will have a contractor starting work on a major overhead electrical rebuild project this month. This project will be completed in late October 2011.

The project will start on June 20, 2011 and will cover approximately 2.1 miles on Cooks Hill Road. the major part of the work involves installing all new power poles, pole top assemblies, and pulling in all new conductors. One section of the project will be placed underground for 1950 feet. Once the new system is energized all existing services will be transferred from the existing system and the contractor will remove the old conductor and poles.

The general work area will be on Cooks Hill Road from Joppish Road to Scheuber Road. You can view a plan showing the location of work and the new construction at the City's website:

Customers in and around the project area will experience power outages during the course of the project. The contractor will notify each affected customer 24 hours in advance of the outage with a door hanger telling them the time and duration of the outage.

This construction will impact vehicular traffic within the work area. There will be one lane closure in place during the work hours. Work hours will be 7:00a.m. to 5:30p.m. Monday through Thursday. Cooks Hill Road has multiple curves and dips which create limited sight distance for motorists in this work area. Be on the lookout for the orange construction signs telling you what to expect ahead.
