NWS Cancels Weather Statement for Washington

UPDATE: The statement has been canceled for most of Washington. The storm will be out at sea and south in Oregon. Freezing level in the Cascades will drop from 8,000 to 5,000 feet.
The National Weather Service/Seattle posted a special weather statement calling for a strong wind and rain storm to reach western Washington Tuesday. Rain will fall throughout the weekend and will be heavier with more winds Tuesday.
Friday's NWS statement:
A STRONG WEATHER SYSTEM IS PREDICTED TO ARRIVE ABOUT TUESDAY BY
NUMERICAL MODELS. IN ADDITION TO BRINGING HEAVY RAIN TO THE COAST
AND OLYMPIC MOUNTAINS...THIS SYSTEM HAS THE POTENTIAL TO BRING
WINDY OR BREEZY CONDITIONS TO THE AREA.

RAIN IS LIKELY SATURDAY AFTERNOON AND AGAIN SUNDAY NIGHT AND
MONDAY. HOWEVER HEAVIER RAIN COULD FALL ON THE COAST TUESDAY AND
INLAND TUESDAY NIGHT. FLOODING DOES NOT SEEM LIKELY WITH THIS FAST
MOVING WEATHER SYSTEM.

WIND COULD BE MORE OF A PROBLEM. WINDY CONDITIONS COULD DEVELOP ON
THE COAST AS EARLY AS MONDAY AND SPREAD TO THE NORTHWEST INTERIOR
ON TUESDAY. IF SOME CURRENT MODELS ARE EXACTLY RIGHT...BREEZY
CONDITIONS ARE POSSIBLE OVER ALL OF WESTERN WASHINGTON TUESDAY
NIGHT. WITH MOST TREES STILL HOLDING ONTO THEIR LEAVES...ANY WIND
EVENT COULD EASILY KNOCK TREES DOWN AND CAUSE LOCAL POWER OUTAGES.

TUESDAY IS STILL FOUR DAYS AWAY AND A LOT CAN CHANGE IN THE MODELS
BETWEEN NOW AND THEN. BUT THERE IS A POSSIBILITY OF SOME WIND.
STAY INFORMED AND BE READY TO TAKE ACTION IF DANGEROUS WEATHER
THREATENS.
