  New Weather Statement: Snow

A mix of rain and snow showers are possible across the lowlands of western Washington late tonight through Sunday morning, according to the National Weather Service. Freezing levels will drop to 700 feet early Saturday morning and will rise to 2,100 feet Sunday night.

A COLD UPPER TROUGH MOVING SOUTHWARD ALONG THE BRITISH COLUMBIA
COAST WILL SETTLE OVER WESTERN WASHINGTON BY EARLY FRIDAY MORNING.
THIS TROUGH WILL PRODUCE SHOWERS AND ALSO BRING VERY COLD AIR ALOFT
INTO THE AREA. HOWEVER...TEMPERATURES NEAR THE SURFACE WILL ONLY
BE MARGINALLY COLD ENOUGH FOR A MIX OF SNOW WITH RAIN SHOWERS
ACROSS MOST AREAS THROUGH FRIDAY. HIGHER HILL TOPS AND AREAS AWAY
FROM THE WATER COULD SEE A QUICK DUSTING OF SNOW WHICH IS LIKELY
TO MELT OFF BETWEEN SHOWERS. MOST AREAS WILL NOT SEE ANY SNOW.

SOME COMPUTER MODELS INDICATE THE POSSIBILITY OF A CONVERGENCE
ZONE DEVELOPING SOMEWHERE NORTH OF SEATTLE. IF THIS DEVELOPS AND
PERSISTS LONG ENOUGH...SOME MINOR ACCUMULATIONS COULD BE POSSIBLE.
UPSLOPE FLOW ALONG THE CENTRAL AND EASTERN STRAIT OF JUAN DE FUCA
COULD ALSO PRODUCE SOME SPOTTY LIGHT ACCUMULATIONS IN THAT AREA
AS WELL.

DRIER AIR WILL FILTER IN FROM THE NORTH FRIDAY NIGHT AND SHOWERS
WILL COME TO AN END FOR MOST THE AREA. COLDER TEMPERATURES ARE
EXPECTED ACROSS WESTERN WASHINGTON WITH WIDESPREAD LOW
TEMPERATURES FALLING INTO THE MID 20S TO AROUND 30 DEGREES
SATURDAY MORNING. ANY WET ROADWAYS WILL ICE UP WHICH COULD PRODUCE
SOME HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS. THE COLD MORNING TEMPERATURES
WILL OCCUR AGAIN ON SUNDAY MORNING WITH MODERATING TEMPERATURES
DURING THE AFTERNOON.
