2011 Crime Rate in Centralia - Back on Track Again

In 2011, Centralia enjoyed a return to a downward trending crime rate after a significant increase in 2010. On a per capita basis, we experienced the lowest crime rate in more than 50 years, even improving the previous record set in 2009. Those 2009 gains, lost in 2010, were realized again this past year, including a significant reduction in violent crime,” Chief Bob Berg stated as he released the preliminary 2011 crime statistics for the City of Centralia.

The overall crime rate in Centralia decreased by almost one third (32%) 2011 compared to 2010, with the property crime rate down 33.61 percent and the violent crime rate down 13.41 percent.

“Aggressive police work and incarceration of several local career criminals, coupled with support and cooperation from the community no doubt contributed to the decrease,” Berg stated.
