  Centralia Stormwater Utility Rates

The City of Centralia Stormwater Utility was formed in November 2004. This utility has the responsibility to plan, design, construct, maintain, administer, and operate all City stormwater conveyances and facilities. Stormwater rates are billed on real property within the City limits. The stormwater rates set at that time were based on predictions, not actual cost.

Due to population, the City was placed under the Federal NPDES Phase 2 Stormwater Permit in 2007, administered by the Washington State Department of Ecology, which added to the cost of operating the utility. This additional cost plus the 10 years of actual costs for the utility were used to evaluate rates necessary to sustain our Stormwater program. From that study, a rate increase was established that will take effect with the June utility billing and for subsequent years with the January billing.

The residential rate will increase from $6 per month to $8 per month. For all other rates and any questions regarding the Stormwater Utility, please contact Public Works Director Kahle Jennings at 360.330.7512.
