Main and Yew Street Traffic Signal Project

The City of Centralia contractor, Travers Electric Inc., will resume the construction of the Main and Yew Street traffic signal project on Monday, October 19, 2015.  The work hours for this project will be Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.  Based on the contractor’s schedule, they will complete the work by November 6, 2015.

During the construction hours westbound traffic will be detoured at Washington Avenue north to First Street and then west to Harrison Avenue.  The southbound Harrison Avenue and eastbound Main Street traffic will not be detoured but will be controlled by flaggers during the work hours.  During non-work hours the street will be reopened to normal two way traffic.  The “Street Closed to Thru Traffic” signs have to be placed where there are streets to detour traffic.  These streets are still open for local traffic and the businesses adjacent to all streets will be open for business throughout the project.

This work will be an inconvenience to the local businesses and will cause delays to the traffic on the streets in the work area.  The contractor will try to complete the work as fast as possible and try to limit those inconveniences.

If you have any questions regarding the project you can contact the City of Centralia Engineering Department at 360.330.7512.
