GEORGE WASHINGTON MURAL RESTORATION

The City of Centralia announced today that Todd Watson, owner of Spectrum Painting, will begin a project to restore the George Washington mural displayed on the Key Bank Building (on Pearl St.). While most of the 14 murals created in the late 1900ís were painted directly on buildings, the portrait of Centraliaís founding father was painted on wooden panels. Dry rot was recently discovered, and the painting itself is showing its age. Part of the mural will be removed on Friday October 15th, so the work can be done in Spectrum Paintingís shop. Spectrum Painting is donating all labor and material for the project, and the City is grateful for Todd Watsonís generosity.
