  Wind Advisory for Thursday

Winds up to 30 mph & gusts up to 50 mph are predicted to occur in the lower Chehalis Valley Thursday, March 10, according to the National Weather Service in Seattle. NWS posted a wind advisory today that will be in effect from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday. The statement said:

...WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM NOON TO 10 PM PST THURSDAY SOUTHWEST INTERIOR...EAST PUGET SOUND LOWLANDS...LOWER CHEHALIS VALLEY AND SEATTLE AREA...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SEATTLE HAS ISSUED A WIND ADVISORY WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM TO 10 PM PST THURSDAY.

* SOME AFFECTED LOCATIONS...SEATTLE...BELLEVUE...OLYMPIA.

* WINDS...SOUTHWEST WINDS INCREASING TO 20 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 45 TO 50 MPH.

* TIMING...WINDS INCREASING AROUND NOON.

* IMPACTS...WINDS THIS STRONG COULD CAUSE LOCAL POWER OUTAGES AND POSSIBLY DOWN TREES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WIND ADVISORY IS ISSUED WHEN SUSTAINED WINDS OF 30 TO 39 MPH OR GUSTS OF 45 TO 57 MPH ARE LIKELY. WINDS THIS STRONG CAN SNAP SMALL TREE BRANCHES...TOPPLE SMALL OR SHALLOW-ROOTED TREES...AND CAUSE LOCAL POWER OUTAGES.
