COVID-19 IMPACTS ON PARKS & RECREATION

Centralia and the rest of Lewis County is at Phase 3 of the governor's Safe Start reopening plan.  City offices including Parks & Recreation are open to the public.  Face masks are required to enter city hall.  If you can't wear a mask for any reason, please call our office to discuss other options for assistance:  (360) 330-7688. 

Parks Information:
 
City parks are open for residents and visitors to enjoy picnicking, walking, fishing, hiking, etc, as long as they practice the required social distancing and follow the face mask order.  Social gatherings of more than 10 is not allowed, effective Monday, July 20.  Restrooms are closed, however portable toilets and handwashing stations have been placed at Borst, Riverside, and Washington parks, as well as the Centralia Train Depot, and are cleaned daily. 

All park playgrounds are open.  Playground Use Phase 3  The splash pad at the Pearl Street Plaza is closed for the season. 
 
Facilities Information:

Use of Borst Park Kitchens and the Train Depot Multi-Purpose Room are currently not allowed, due to the limitation of gatherings to 10 or fewer, unless for an exempt activity. Facility Use Phase 3  Exempt events include wedding ceremonies, wedding receptions and funerals with 30 or fewer people, following the Washington State Wedding/Funeral COVID-19 RequirementsFuture reservations are accepted with a courtesy hold only, and are subject to cancellation if restrictions are not lifted.  The availability calendar may be viewed online, but the option to reserve online is currently turned off.  You must phone in your reservation request to the Parks & Recreation office at (360) 330-7688 if you need to book a future date or for an exempted purpose.  Picnic shelter reservations are closed for the season, but may be used on a first come, first served, as-is basis—complying with the limit of 10 or fewer people and social distancing.

Recreation Information:
 

Softball and baseball fields are now closed for the season.  No city sponsored programs or activities are currently being offered—please check back for updates.

The online reservation option is currently turned off, however you may still view availability online.  ONLY PHONE-IN reservations are accepted and will be placed on the calendar with a courtesy hold.  Such reservations will be held until status on gatherings is known or if the event qualifies as exempt.  This will help prevent unnecessary refunds if a reservation is not able to be kept.
