Nighttime construction will begin on Harrison Avenue and Interstate 5 in August. In an effort to minimize the impacts to the traveling public and area businesses, as well as improve the safety of construction workers, the City of Centralia and the Washington State Department of Transportation will be completing transportation projects at night on these high-use corridors for the next few months.
The City of Centralia Public Works Department will be improving the roadway on Harrison Avenue from High Street to Main Street beginning August 7, 2023. This project includes the replacement and installation of median curbing, repaving the roadway, striping, permanent signing and other related work. Work is currently scheduled to continue through September 2023. One lane of travel in each direction will be maintained during work hours. The City and Lakeside Industries Inc. will work with area residents and businesses to minimize impacts during construction.
The Washington State Department of Transportation maintenance paving crews will be completing a highway preservation project area beginning August 3, 2023. Work will include repairing failing asphalt through pavement repair and wheel path paving. Work in our area is expected to be complete by October 2023.
