From:  Rob Hill, City Manager

In response to the recent announcement in the Chronicle, the City of Centralia welcomes the good news regarding the Centralia Station project.  It is very exciting to hear that the Port of Centralia is working with Powell Development on the Port's project and the possibility of Fred Meyer becoming part of our business community.

While not actively involved in the planning or design phase, the City Council has maintained full support for the project and the prospective revitalization of the Mellen Street Gateway.  This includes actively working to ensure that our municipal utilities have the capacity ot support the users at the Station.

The City also recognizes that the Port is still seeking approval of the access break to the interstate from the Federal Highway Administration, but is optimistic they will prevail.  Being the permitting agency on the project, the City is eager to review the project plans so the Port and Powell Development can begin construction.

If you have questions or concerns, please contact the City Manager at 360-330-7674.
