Drought Declaration - July 2021
In light of the statewide drought emergency declared by Governor Inslee on July 14, 2021, the City of Centralia would like to assure you that we have an adequate water supply to meet summer demands. Currently, our aquifer levels are at or within normal range for this time of year. City Staff will continue to monitor well levels throughout the coming months and will keep the public informed if our situation changes.
Centralia Public Works would like to remind you that it is always a good idea to follow these tips to limit water waste:
- Fix leaking faucets and plumbing in a timely manner
- Water lawns and gardens in early morning or late evening to prevent undue evaporation
- Watch for water runoff when watering lawn and gardens
- Shut water off while tending to personal hygiene at the bathroom sink
- Invest in a low flow toilet or install a water displacement device in the tank to reduce the amount of water per flush
- Install low flow faucet aerators and showerheads
- Choose water conserving models if you’re in the market for new appliances
Please contact Andy Oien at 360-330-7512 if you have questions or would like further information.
