The City Clerk's Office is a great place to start if you have a question or need directions. If we are not able to help you, we can direct you to the proper department or person that can. The City Clerk is responsible for maintaining documents that are essential for municipal government such as Ordinances, Resolutions, and Meeting Minutes.
The City Clerk's Office is also responsible for the following:
- Attending and recording City Council meetings
- Preparing City Council agenda packets and minutes
- Attesting and affixes the City seal on official records as needed
- Processing public disclosure requests (except Police Department and Municipal Court records)
- Ensuring that ordinances and various public notices are published
- Conducting bid openings
- Processing new business license applications (businesses start the process with the State of Washington Business License Services)
- Permitting for the sales of Fireworks
- Directing the public to the proper departments regarding the information on City Codes, ordinances, and general questions
- Ensuring that the Centralia Municipal Code is up to date
- Processing Parade/Special Event Applications
